TUSHAUS SUPPORTS MILWAUKEE INSTITUTE’S CREATION OF THE MILWAUKEE GRID

 

Computer services company to host MGrid services in local data center

MILWAUKEE – (September 20, 2009) - Tushaus Computer Services, a Wisconsin-Based provider of information technology solutions announced its support of the Milwaukee Institute’s mission to establish the Milwaukee Grid (MGrid) by providing hosting processing services at its data center for the Institute’s High Performance Computer Cluster (HPCC). As part of the agreement, Tushaus will provide floor space, power and Internet services for one year.

The Milwaukee Institute is an independent not-for-profit research, education and public policy organization whose goal is to provide world-class computing, communications and collaboration facilities in support of economic development through scientific, engineering and technology leadership in the Great Lakes region, particularly in SE Wisconsin.

The goals of the Institute include promoting advanced technology development by offering collaboration and high-performance computing systems and services that encourage and enable cooperation among regional public and private research and development organizations, businesses, educational institutions and government agencies.

Milwaukee Institute launched its High Performance Computing cluster in the first quarter of 2009.  The cluster is available to local organizations whose applications meet the goals of the Institute.  Current users include the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee (UWM) LIGO Group, part of an international project team researching gravitational waves, the Systems Biology Group and the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW), and the Computational Systems Group at Marquette University (MU).
